Platinum, in Vacheron Costantin ‘s history, is not a rare material: the Geneva based manufacture founded in 1755 adopts platinum since 1820 and, today, on 9 timepieces out of the Traditionelle collection, which features important horological complications such as a Tourbillon Squelette and a Perpetual Calendar for example. Now on the timepieces made out of platinum will be 11, as other two models have joined the Collection Excellence Platine : the Vacheron Costantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve and the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle World Time .

The Vacheron Costantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve has a 39,5mm wide case and its dial, made out of Platinum 950 too, boasts the “Pt 950” lettering between 4 and 5 and has three counters: for day, date, and power reserve respectively. It features three tiny blue pointer hands, as blue (but dark) is the leather alligator strap with silk and…platinum stitching!

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle World Time is part of the maison’s heritage, as Vacheron Constantin launched its first World Time timepiece, that enabled the simultaneous reading of the time in 31 cities of the world, in 1932. The 2014 World Time enables the time reading in 37 cities, including those offset from Universal Coordinated Time (UCT) by a half-hour or a quarter hour, complete with a day/night display via a central globe. Its dial is made up of three parts: a sapphire dial with day/night shading; a 950 platinum dial with a “ Lambert projector ” type map; and a metal chapter ring.
