What timepiece could be better suited to celebrating the 195th anniversary of Bovet than a Big Date Tourbillon? Beyond its subtle historic allusions, this Virtuoso VIII represents the very essence of the Fleurier Grandes Complications collection as defined by Pascal Raffy himself.

The Virtuoso VIII is the first timepiece in the Fleurier Collection to reprise an inclined crystal aperture along the 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock axis, like the innovative case of the Récital 18 Shooting Star® presented in 2016 and that ofthis year’s Récital 20 Astérium®. This truly innovative concept creates new perspectives for caliber architecture, as well for the decoration and display of functions. The movement of this new ambassador for the collection also features a number of significant innovations, as well as three of the patents pioneered by the Braveheart® Tourbillon, which was initially presented in 2015. But above all, the Virtuoso VIII is the ultimate expression of the artisanal watchmaking tradition that has been upheld by Bovet since 1822.

 

Bovet will create the Bovet Pininfarina OttantaSei 10-Day Tourbillon as a limited edition of just 86 pieces. Including all three case styles that are available as the reference TPINS002 in 18k red gold, the TPINS001 in natural titanium, and also the TPINS003 in DLC-coated black titanium. Last, it seems that Bovet has also updated the guarantee in their watches (at least some of them) in light of moves from other watch industry players, so the Bovet Pininfarina OttantaSei 10-Day Tourbillon will have a movement guarantee of five years. Bovet will produce the Bovet Pininfarina OttantaSei 10-Day Tourbillon as a limited edition of just 86 pieces. I’ve been writing about watches for a long time; I have been working on them even longer; and I have been in the market longer still. I’m not certain when I decided where I stumbled on the “are watches artwork?” Issue, but I will tell you this: I can not remember regarding watches as anything but works of art. Some of it’s high forehead, a few of it low. It does not really matter where the watch falls upon the scale in order for it to be regarded as an art form. But maybe that’s more to do with your definition of art (and that I have a true broad definition of this word). What I have always believed is that something seems as art if it’s the “expression of what can’t be said.”
