Presented in 2015, exclusively in steel, the 19Thirty collection is inspired by one of the last pocket watches manufactured by Bovet Watches History Replica before the era of the wristwatch. It has inherited the harmony and numerous stylistic details of the ‘Easel’ chronometer patented in 1930, which in itself symbolizes the transition to the wristwatch.
Its execution and finishes are of exceptional quality, following criteria identical to those used for grandes complications, and it features a seven-day power reserve drawn from a single barrel. The collector can choose from three colors of dial and three types of numerals (Arabic, Chinese and Roman) which provide a plethora of combinations.
There’s also a distinctive system on the winding stem that could be observed just under the Bovet Watches Ladies Replica logo that was developed by Bovet a couple of years ago and, in addition to looking really nice, is supposed to increase winding efficiency so that the consumer doesn’t have to finish the crown as many occasions to fully control the movement. Note the small sapphire crystal plate onto the crown which happens to have the Pininfarina logo on it (for the first time within this watch collection, I believe). Layout wise, the 17BM03MM motion is a stunner, with dark-gray-finished plates and attractive texturing and finishing. Each of the Pininfarina watches have a decidedly modern edge to them compared to a lot of the classic or Old Earth, “artistically dense” design style that many people linked with Bovet.Even as a ritzy tourbillon-laden timepiece the Bovet Pininfarina OttantaSei 10-Day Tourbillon still feels like a game watch with the highly legible hands and indexes as well as the very mild impression on the wrist. The rubber strap has a wonderful deep blue Alcantara-lining, and allows for an overall very comfy fit – an even comfier fit if you have really huge wrists given how the larger-feeling case fits.The movement structure and skeletonization is pure “haute horology” using a range of fine yet contemporary decorative details and finishing. I’m conscious that the style of Bovet timepieces makes them not suitable for everybody, but I still believe most watch lovers can easily rally behind the execution of technique and skill in these watches. Moreover, how often to have a watch that so reluctantly comes with a large flying tourbillon and also has brightly SuperLumiNova-painted hands (notice that on those prototype versions, the hands were hand-painted therefore the lume appears uneven).
Today, Bovet introduces the 19Thirty in a red gold case – 9mm thick for a diameter of 42mm. Again, it is available in three different dial colors (black, blue and brown) but this time the dials are decorated with a sunray guillochage. The timepiece once more offers a choice of three types of numeral. Moreover, each collector can opt for a diamond set bezel and bow if desired.
The timepiece houses the manual-winding Caliber 15BM04. It beats at 21’600 vph, offers a 7-day power reserve and powers the hours, minutes, sub-seconds and power reserve indicators functions.
A full skin alligator strap, secured with a 18K red gold ardillon buckle completes the timepiece.
