Antiquorum to Offer Modern Limited Edition Watches in their September 18th Auction
Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world’s premier auctioneers of modern and vintage timepieces is looking forward to its first auction of the fall season on September 18 th at the Fuller Building in New York City. The outstanding and varied selection includes exceptional examples of modern limited edition timepieces from leading brands such as Audemars Piguet, Jaeger -LeCoultre , IWC and Panerai . Prior to the auction organized by Antiquorum, previews will be held in Hong Kong, Shanghai and New York .
The highlight of the Antiquorum sale is the exquisite Audemars Piguet Platinum Skeletonized Tourbillon Minute Repeater Chronograph, Ref. 26270. Made in 2009, it is a very rare minute-repeating, wristwatch with visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, round button chronograph and 30 minute register. Accompanied by the original fitted wooden box, Certificate of Authenticity, guarantee and instruction manual. Also offered with the lot is a wooden box in the shape of a grand piano with 3 sounding strings inside.

Jaeger-LeCoultre collectors will be competing for the Jaeger-LeCoultre, Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2, No. 04/75. Made in a limited edition of 75 pieces in pink gold circa 2008, this is a complicated and rare, reversible wristwatch with visible Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 174 with inclined two-cage multi-axis spherical tourbillon, 50 hour power reserve and 24-hour indication and “1000 Hours Control”. Accompanied by the original fitted box, guarantee certificate, certificate of origin, instruction booklet and magnifying glass.

IWC enthusiasts will be pleased to see two superb examples of the IWC Il Destriero Scafusia in the September auction:
The first example is an extremely fine and rare minute repeating, platinum wristwatch No. 34/125 with flying one-minute tourbillon regulator, square button split-seconds chronograph, registers, secular perpetual calendar and moon phases made circa 1997. Accompanied by a fitted box, guarantee, extra strap and booklet.

The second example, offered by Antiquorum, is a very fine and important 18K pink gold wristwatch No. 40/125 with flying one-minute tourbillon regulator, square button split-seconds chronograph, registers, secular perpetual calendar and moon phases. Accompanied by the original wooden box with inlayed picture of Schaffhausen, Certificate, guarantee, technical literature, instruction booklet and a display box.

Hublot is also well represented in the Antiquorum sale with the futuristic Hublot Ref. MP-02 Flying Tourbillon Titanium PVD Coated No. 08/50. Made in a limited edition of 50 pieces circa 2010, this is a rare and unusual, ceramic, titanium PVD-coated wristwatch with visible one-minute flying tourbillon regulator viewable in the band at 6, time speed indicator, power reserve indicator and a special integrated rubber strap with a titanium PVD-coated Hublot deployant clasp. Accompanied by the original box.

Another outstanding Audemars Piguet offered in the Antiquorum auction is the Audemars Piguet Ref. CCW1 Carbon Royal Oak Concept 2 made circa 2010. Extremely rare and unusual, tonneau-shaped, carbon wristwatch with visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, instantaneous mainspring torque indicator (“Dynamograph”), linear power-reserve indication and crown function mode push-button and indication. Accompanied by the original fitted box.

In addition, Audemars Piguet collectors and Maserati enthusiasts will want to bid on the Audemars Piguet Ref. 26069 “Millenary – Maserati Anniversary – MC12 Tourbillon and Chronograph” No. 035/150. Made in a limited edition of 150 pieces in 2006 to commemorate the success of the Maserati MC12 in the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers’ Cup, this is a platinum wristwatch with twin white gold and palladium alloy barrels, black carbon movement with blue anodized aluminum bridges, 10-day power reserve, visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, chronograph, register, and tachometer.

The Panerai lover will not want to miss the Panerai, Pam 203, Luminor 1950, 8 Day, “Return of a Legend Officine Panerai” No. H 053/150, Ref. OP 6624. Made in a limited edition of 150 pieces in 2005, the present example is a large, cushion-shaped, stainless steel, military-type diver’s wristwatch with Angelus movement. Accompanied by the original fitted box, certificate of origin, guarantee card, booklets, 3 spare straps and screw driver.

Offered for the first time at an Antiquorum auction is an exceptional Patek Philippe Ref. 5940 made in 2012. History buffs and royalists will appreciate the Swiss lady’s gold pocket watch replica retailed by Aubert & Klaftenberger given by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to their Daughter, HRH Princess Alice (1843-1878) on the occasion of her 12th birthday on April 25, 1855. The very fine and historically important lady’s gold pocket watch replica is accompanied by a gold chain.

Yankees fans are sure to compete for the Wittnauer Electro-Chron that previously belonged to Del E. Webb (1899 – 1974), an American real-estate developer and former co-owner of the Yankees baseball team . This timepiece was presented to Del E. Webb on “Old Timer’s Day” July 28, 1962. Made in 1962, it is an extremely rare, center seconds, stainless steel electronic wristwatch with the “Yankees” logo imprint on the dial. It is accompanied by the original box.
